How much initiative is too much?

Hi guys!
So I am taking SAT Prep this summer and my baseline SAT score was 1790 or so. We took other practice SATs and I got 1610 on one of them (whoops!) and 1900 on the other one. Somehow, to my parents, this translated into me not taking this class seriously. Apparently I don't have initiative to improve myself and I'm just a lazy person. The truth of that statement is debatable, but it poses an important question. Is too much initiative a good or bad thing? and another question, is initiative unrecognized, initiative badly spent? The first question focuses on someones drive. Is it a bad thing to always strive for something more and to figure out ways to constantly improve, or is it the secret to getting everything you want? Is it better to live in the moment and enjoy it, or is it better to constantly strive for something that is perhaps unachievable? The second question focuses on validation. If you do something for yourself and only yourself, is it considered equal to spending that initiative on something more recognizable? This question is hard to describe, so I'll give an example. Is the initiative I took making my blogs (www.modernbeautygirl.blogspot.com and this blog) well spent because it makes me happy, or should I have spent that energy and taken the initiative and instead directed it towards getting better SAT scores? I don't know the answers to these questions, but I'm guessing that you have some ideas or thoughts of your own. Leave it in a comment below because this is interesting to me and I'd love to hear your thoughts on initiative and the two questions posed.

Top 5 Workout Songs

Hi guys!
I wanted to do a post on my top 5 workout songs! I think that I'm going to do a few more workout posts this week so keep an eye out for that as well. But these are the songs that I dance to, jump to, and more importantly SWEAT to!

1) Play Hard - David Guetta
This song is so fun and it always gets me really pumped up! I think this is also great motivation because it says "work hard, play hard", which keeps me going when I feel like stopping!

2) Let it Rock - Kevin Rudolf
It's an older song, but I love it! This song is so fun and I love dancing to this song or doing a trampoline workout to it!

3) I Love it - Icona Pop
This song is great because it makes me feel energized just listening to it! This is a song that I can blast on my ipod and run to without focusing on my fatigue.

4) Just Dance - Lady Gaga
I think that this song is great because its catchy and its one of those songs that I can keep listening to without getting annoyed or tired of this song!

5) Animal - Neon Trees
I love anything Neon Trees, but Animal makes this list because its good to dance to and run to and its also fun to blast and lift weights to!

So those were my top 5 workout songs! I'd love to hear what yours are in the comments below! Also, don't forget to return to this blog in a few days for my next post!

Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe

Hey everyone!
So I love to cook and bake, and I thought that since it's summer and I have a lot of free time, I can do more cooking posts! So today I made some chocolate chip muffins since I was craving them. I usually use the chocolate chip muffin mix from betty crocker or something, but I decided to go homemade on this one. So I think they turned out well, but you can tweak the recipe by adding more chocolate chips, substituting the white flour for whole wheat one or something else. So I hope you enjoy this!

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips + more for the top
1 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt

 1) Put all ingredients in a bowl except the chocolate chips and combine using a spoon or a mixer
2) Fold in the 1/2 cup of chocolate chip into the batter
3) Fill a muffin tin with liners and use a spoon or a ice cream scooper to fill liners 3/4 of the way with batter
4) Sprinkle a few chocolate chips on the top (if desired)
5) Bake in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Final notes: This recipe makes 12 muffins and works well in a convection oven as well as a regular oven. Make sure to watch the muffins in the last 5 minutes or so because they can overcook and turn hard and dense.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and if you decide to try it out, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below!

The Heat!

Hey guys!
I saw the heat at a free screening a couple of weeks ago, but since the movie doesn't release until this week, I decided to put of this blog post until today! So I won't give away any secrets or spoilers and pretty much everything I'm going to say in this post is my opinion (should you see it or not) and what's already shown in most of the trailers and commercials. But still, if you don't want to hear about the movie before you see it, you can exit out now.
So first off, let me say this movie is hilarious! Sandra Bullock plays a FBI agent who is vying for a promotion, but is a bit of an independent person and can't work well with others. Melissa McCarthy plays a police officer who is a bad @$$ and goes after the drug dealers and those types of criminals. They end up having to work together to find and convict a drug lord. This movie is freakin hilarious! When you hear Sandra Bullock, you don't typically think "funny", but I really think that the contrast between the "goody two shoes" Sandra and the "kick butt" Melissa is what keeps this movie funny! I also think that there are some other characters in there that keep it fresh and funny. I especially thought the scenes with the albino were hilarious! One thing to note is that there is a pretty bloody scene in the middle of the movie, but its done in a funny way and even if you're squeamish at the sight of gore (like I am) I think that you'll be fine.
My final thoughts are: if you're a parent, a teen, or at least older than 12, I think this would be great because its funny and interesting and a comedy with a well thought out and well done script. But, with that being said, parents, please don't take you young toddlers or preschoolers to this movie! I think its obvious why (crude jokes, inappropriate topics, language...) but maybe its not because when I went to see it, there were 5 year old kids in the audience! But really, I give this movie 2 thumbs up and I am probably going to see it again when it comes out because it is just that good.
If you liked this post on my thoughts about the heat, let me know in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe to this blog (you can use your email to do so in the left side bar) or your blogger account! I'll see you in my next post!

TV Shows I'm loving: Summer edition

Hey everyone!
A lot of my favorite television shows have ended their seasons, but I've been watching a lot of new ones that I haven't talked about yet! So I wanted to do a post saying what shows I've been watching!

Sunday: Top Hooker

Monday: The Bachelorette

Tuesday: Pretty Little Liars!

Wednesday: Million Dollar Listings New York
                  Master Chef
Thursday: None

Friday: None

Saturday: None

So if I were to recommend a few of these shows to you, it would be top hooker, million dollar listings, and master chef. Top Hooker is a fishing competition show and I think it's on animal planet (but I'm not quite sure). Its really funny to watch and even if you're not into fishing at all (like me) it's still interesting. Million Dollar Listings NY is amazing because of the people. It follows a few relators and the clients and them are absolutely amazing! Master Chef is also great if you like cooking competitions because it is absolutely addicting and its great.

If you have any other television shows that I am not watching, let me know in the comments and don't forget to follow this blog for new posts!

What have I been up to?

Hey everyone!
Its been a while since my last post, so I thought that I'd do sort of a recap/what I've been up to type post. So here it is!
I like to think that this is my first "real" week of summer because last week was sort of a half week. Cheerleading practice started this week and let me say, it's been tough. I think that it's partially because it is right at that time when the gym gets really hot so we're sweating before we do anything! Also, it may also be because I'm out of shape. Oh well! Thats all good because I'll get in shape this summer! But we've been doing the basics like the easy stunts (thigh stands, shoulder sits...) and motions, jumps, and tumbling! Its been a workout, but luckily I haven't been that sore yet. It has made me so tired, though, that I haven't done anything on most days except cheerleading. I've been reading through the twilight series again and I've been reading them really quickly because I started on last wednesday with the first book and I'm already on breaking dawn! But it is a really good book and my summer read of the moment! I've also done some volunteering at a charity close to my house and some other things too! I'm so sorry I've been MIA, but I'll try to post more regularly from now on!
Love you guys :D

The start of summer

Hey everyone!
Sorry that I didn't post yesterday but I'm using an old laptop and its really slow and it couldn't handle me doing anything while I uploaded a video for my YouTube channel! But anyways, summer has started and I've started getting into my really productive state of mind and doing lots of things so let's get started!
I have been cleaning my room and totally rearranging things, which sucks because Its too soon to do updated tours but I really want to show you the new stuff! I've also been getting back into reading and I've started reading the twilight books again. I already finished twilight and I'm starting new moon. Twilight and eclipse were my favorite books and new moon was my least favorite but I figured I should read new moon and just read the series chronologically like a normal person would. I also went shopping with one of my friends today and I have a haul filed that'll be going on my YouTube channel soon!
So that's all that I've been up to in my 2 days of summer so far! Let me know what you've been doing in a comment and subscribe!
Love you all
