Where Have I Been?

Hey guys!
So I have not been posting that much at all recently, but I've been on my trip!
I am in Cali at the moment and I thought that I would do some posting on where I have been. I've been looking at some colleges because I'm going to have to start thinking about college soon and I've also been hanging with my family as it is a family trip!
San Francisco
We went to San Francisco! It was amazing and we went to the exploratorium at one of the piers as well as the aquarium at pier 39. Ghirardelli Square (sorry if I spelt that wrong) had amazing ice cream sundaes! I went to visit USF and I love the campus there! I also loved the weather because it was nice and cool!
Monterey Bay
I was at monterey bay for a few days. We went shopping and I'll do a haul on some of the stuff on my other blog once I get home. I also went to the monterey aquarium, which was fantastic! I also found a great taco/mexican place called California Tacos or something like that. It's really close to the Monterey Embassy Suites for reference.

So that's where I've been the past few days! I'll try to post more frequently during the next week and a half of my trip, but I'm not sure how often that'll be!

Cheer Camp

Hey everyone!
I've had cheer camp the last few days! And for all of you cheerleaders, I wanted to do a post letting you know my experience with it!

The one that my team goes to is at a high school. It is amazing and there are tons of people! We learn a cheer, dance, sidelines, and some amazing stunts! We perform for the staff members to get some invaluable tips. I have gone for the last 4 years and it is honestly hell for your body, but amazing for team bonding and skills! It is tough to go through 12 hour days constantly stunting, cheering, or dancing, but it is so rewarding to come out of it, knowing you can survive and that you are that much stronger because of it! My team had and has a lot of drama, but at cheer camp, the great thing is that you come together and make routines and memories despite individual differences. I really love it and I totally recommend trying to get your squad to go to one if you can!

Let me know your cheer camp experiances in the comments below!

RIPD Movie Review

Hey everyone!
I just watched RIPD today with one of my friends and I thought I would share my thoughts on it with you!

So first off, this movie has gotten terrible reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie a "rotten" rating and a lot of critics didn't like it. With that being said, this isn't a "must see" movie, but it isn't terrible. From the trailers and commercials, you think this is an action movie, but what you don't see is the monsters or the "Deados" as they're called and you also don't see a lot of Kevin Bacon in the commercials, which is odd because he is one of the major characters. The plot of this movie is interesting, but it isn't anything surprising or unique. I also don't think the acting is that great and the chemistry between the actors isn't that great. This movie does have its moments, mostly because of the Chinese man and "hot" woman and Jeff Bridge's character.

If you're going to bring you're kids to this movie, I would just keep in mind that this is a PG 13 movie, but that isn't because of the violence or anything like that. The violence isn't too bad or gory at all! There is a little bit of language at the end of the movie (Jeff Bridges says "Sh!t" a lot) so if you have little kids, don't bring them!

So overall, if you really like the plot of this movie or the commercials, I don't think you're going to be disappointed. But if you're going as a "spur of the moment" type movie, you're better off going to see RED 2 or the Heat (I've reviewed both of them and I'll link them here and here). If you've seen this movie, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments!

Secrets to Grilling

Hey everyone!
My dad and I were grilling steaks and vegetables last night for dinner, so I thought that I could do a post letting you all know some of our tips and secrets to getting really yummy food!

Before you start:
1) Make sure that you either oil the vegetables and food that you're going to grill, or you oil the actual grill. I prefer oiling the vegetables.
2) Preheat the grill and get it pretty hot so you can get a good sear on the steak.

1) Toss in oil, salt, and pepper to season before placing on the gril.
2) Try to put "like by like" so that all the onions are close together and all the asparagus are close together so removing them is easier.
3) "Test" the doneness by seeing if a fork can pass through easy (for asparagus and harder veggies) or when the skin starts puckering (for tomatoes and peppers).
4) Also, remember to use foil packets to cook small vegetables so they don't fall through the grates.

1) My favorite marinade for steak is italian dressing! You can also toss in oil with salt and pepper like the vegetables
2) Place on the grill and don't move! You can gently lift it up, to ensure you get grill lines. Then move 90° so you can get the "criss cross" lines.
3) Keep a thermometer handy so you can test the "doneness" if it isn't apparent from the outside.
4) Make sure to let the meat rest, so you don't get blood and juices everywhere.
5) Cut against the grain so it is easier to bite and eat.

After you're done:
1) Clean the grill grates. The one on my grill is removable, so we can wash it, but if yours isn't, just make sure to get the charred bits off of it.
2) Empty the oil pan if your grill has one.

Hope this was helpful for all of you grilling newbies! Also, if you have some secrets of your own, leave them in the comments!

RED 2 Review

Hey everyone!
So my dad got another set of tickets to see a movie before it releases! I did a post similar to this one on "the heat" a few weeks ago, and I thought that I would do it for all the movies I go to! So this post will be on RED 2. If you haven't read my posts like these, I don't do any recaps or spoilers, but I give a basic overview (what you'd get from the trailer) and also my thoughts on whether you should see this movie or not.
So if you're not familiar with the original RED movie, the concept is that there are retired CIA agens that have been classified as RED (retired, extremely dangerous). They are constantly being targeted by the united states (and in RED 2, other countries). This makes for a very action packed movie full of old people shooting young people. It's a comedic action movie because it's not going to be as hard core as some other action movies because the plot has a good amount of humor in it. If you haven't seen RED 1, I don't think that you have to watch it before seeing RED 2. It might be a good idea to read the wikipedia summery of the first movie to get an idea of the characters, but the original plot of the first movie doesn't carry over into the second movie, but the same characters are present. There are also new characters and Anthony Hopkins (you may know him as Hannibal Lector from Silence of the Lambs) is hilarious as a old crazy guy!
Do I think you should see this movie? Absolutely! I was really tired when I went to see the movie because I just came from practice and I was super exhausted. Usually in a average to boring movie, I would be falling asleep or in the stage where I'm awake, but mentally out of it. In this movie, the plot and the action was great that I stayed awake the whole time! I went with my dad, and he also isn't a huge movie person, but he said this movie is better than the original red and that he would see it again because it was that good! I think this would be a great date movie or a family movie (if you have older kids) because its not too action packed that girls would hate it and its not too girly that guys would hate it!
If you have any other questions on this movie, leave them below and I'll answer them for you, but I hope this was useful for you! Also, if you've seen the original RED movie, who's your favorite character?

Is The Next Food Network Star copying Top Chef?

Hey everyone!
I know that all of you know that I watch a ton of cooking reality competition shows (masterchef, top chef, the next food network star and more!) and recently, I was watching an episode of the next food network star, and I thought that there was something familiar about something they're doing. Basically, on Top Chef, starting with 2 or 3 seasons ago, eliminated contestants compete to win a place back on the show near the end. This seems like a brilliant idea, right? It gets people watching and also watching the web clips online generating traffic to their websites. But then I was watching the next food network star, and they're doing the same thing! I don't have a problem with people copying other ideas, but doing it so blatantly and in a manner so similar to Top Chef (both are web only clips, 2 eliminated contestants cooking off, win a spot back later...) is a little bit too obvious. I don't know if its just me, or if other people feel this way, but I think that the Food Network should have changed at least a little bit about the way that they do it, especially because a lot of people who watch Top Chef, probably watch the Next Food Network Star as well.

Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments below, and also, if you watch the next food network star, who's your favorite contestant? Mine is Chad (the BBQ guy)!

June 2013 Random Favorites

Hey everyone!
I know it's a little late, but I'm doing my random favorites for June! I already did my beauty/fashion monthly favorites, so if you'd like to see that, I'll link it here.

1) Redvines
I've gone to the movies a ton in June and I have fallen in love with redvines! I know a lot of people who hate them, but they are amazing!
2) Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiatos (From Starbucks)
This is my go to drink! If you're like me, and you love the espresso part of it, get the grande because it has the most "espresso" flavor (it has 2 shots, the tall only has one, and the veinti has 2, but more milk)
3) Butterfinger Ice Cream
It's so amazing and delicious and if you like butterfingers (or even if you don't) you should try some!

The Twilight Series! I've been re reading these as my "summer reading" and I love it! This is probably some of my favorite books of all time.

1) Top Hooker
2) MasterChef
3) Million Dollar Listings New York
I've done a post with descriptions of all these shows, so I'll link it here for you.

1) I love it - Icona Pop
It is amazing and really great to work out to!
2) It's Time - Imagine Dragons
Another great song that I can listen to on repeat forever!

So that was my june random favorites! Let me know yours in the comments below.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone!
I just wanted to do a post on what I did today because I know everyone spends this holiday a little differently and I thought this would be a fun post!

I went shopping with my friend this morning and I bought a few things from bath and body works. A haul is going to be going up on my other blog (I'll link it here) soon so make sure to check for that! I came home and my dad and uncle were grilling salmon burgers, regular hamburgers, hot dogs, and some veggies for lunch. We recently got a new gril because our other one was too dangerous to use and it was fun for them to try it out for the first time! My aunt's birthday is also tomorrow, so we got a cake and celebrated that as well. It was a super yummy chocolate cake! Its the afternoon now, and I'm watching harry potter and the chamber of secrets and I'm blogging a ton! Later tonight, I'll be eating more hamburgers from lunch. I wish that fireworks weren't banned in Hawaii, though, because I love playing with sparklers! At least my neighbors do fireworks (even the illegal kind) so I get a little show outside of my window each night! On a more random note, if you'd like to see my makeup look that I wore today, I'll link it here

I'd love to know how you spent your independence day, so if you want to, you can leave a comment below letting me know what you did today!
