My Song Obsession #1

Hey everyone!
So you know how there are those songs that you always listen to and you never get tired of! I thought that I'd make a new series on this blog and whenever I am OBSESSED with a song, I'd let you know about it and post the video of it on this blog! Let me know what you think of this series idea, but I am totally in love with this concept! So this is my song obsession of the moment!

Avicii - Wake Me Up
OMG this song is amazing! I love EDM (electronic dance music) and Calvin Harris, David Guetta, even Skrillex and Zedd, but this song totally is my jam at the moment! I love how the lyrics are meaningful, not to say that the other songs aren't, but I really think that these lyrics speak to me at this point in my life. I also love how the music is totally EDM without being over the top or too electronic as I find Skrillex can be (for me) sometimes.

Question: How do you workout with a dislocated shoulder?

Hey everyone!
If you didn't know, I dislocated my shoulder a little while ago and I did a blog post on that. If you'd like to read that, click here! And before I get into the purpose of this post, I'd just like to say thank you for your kind thoughts and I really appreciate them! With that being said, shoulder injuries (dislocations and other things) are serious and many people want to continue to exercise throughout the healing process (like myself!) So I thought I'd give you some of my tips. Keep in mind, I am not a doctor and I would totally talk with yours before trying any of this! So let's get started. 
Arm strength
If you dislocate your shoulder, go to a physician and you'll probably have to do some range of motion exercises and strengthening exercises. At my school, the athletic trainers gave me some exercises to supplement the ones my doctor gave me, but if you can get in to see a physical therapist, that's even better! So that's pretty much your arm exercises because you really can't lift weights or support any body weight when your shoulder isn't strong and healthy!
I'm refraining from planks and things because it puts a lot of stress on the shoulder. Instead, you can do reverse crunches (where you lift your hips), V-Ups, and 6 inches.
If you are a cheerleader, not doing jumps for a few weeks while your shoulder heals can feel like forever! You can actually improve your flexibility and your jumps by doing some leg lifts! Sit in a straddle with one hand in and one hand out and lift one leg. That's a rep! I like doing 2 sets of 25 on each leg and doing 2 sets of 25 with both legs and my hands in the middle!
You can kill your legs and get insanely strong! I have been doing tons of frog jumps (feel the burn!), jumping squats, one legged squats on a step stool, and to work the calf muscle I like to go onto the balls of my feet (tippy toe!) and then come back down and repeat for 2 sets of 30!
This is another area thats easy to target without using arms! I like to lay on the ground on my back and my feet on the ground. You then lift your hips off the ground. Hold for 10 seconds and then return to the start! Do 3 sets of 10 and you'll be done!

So those are some exercises that I've been doing! Once again, I am so not a physician and consult yours before starting an intense exercising routine especially if you're injured! If you like these workout posts, let me know and I'll be sure to do more!

I have no clue! Its been crazy looking at colleges and all that and there are a few things that I could definitely see myself doing including teaching and becoming an athletic trainer/physical therapist! It is still so likely to change and I have no clue what I'll actually end up doing!

I hate folding other peoples clothes and I also hate loading the dishwasher! 

Share your best childhood memory
I was in the nutcracker every year for around 8 years when I was little and my best childhood memory was me in Kindergarden in a cupcake costume walking on stage and dancing!

Share one thing you would love to learn to do!
I would love to learn how to fish because if you follow this blog, its no secret that I love fishing shows and I am so in love with the concept! I just need someone with a few hooks and a boat to teach me!

Share a bad experience that turned into something good
When I was in 6th grade, I tried out for intermediate cheerleading and I didn't make the team. I found out through letters that they gave each kid because they thought it would be easier for them to handle rather than face to face. The next day, I found out that I had been given the wrong letter and that I actually made the team!

Last book you read?
I'm currently reading the Great Gatsby! I love it! It's so interesting and if you haven't read it, you definitely should!

Favorite form of physical activity?
Cheerleading! Enough Said!

Everything! I love the weather, the fact that any day of the year you can go to the beach and it'll look picturesque and the fact that there are mountains and oceans and everything imaginable in a few tiny islands!

I ♥ Blogilates!

Hey everyone!
So I know that I am incredibly late to the bandwagon, but I'm still jumping right on it and letting you know how much I love blogilates! 
For all of you that don't know, blogilates is a online blog ( run by Cassey and she also does youtube videos of pilates routines to pop songs! I love it so much and she is so motivational and makes you want to work out! I am currently injured, so I can't do much at practice, but I've been doing the victorias secret abs one to get in a workout at home!

Dislocated Shoulder

Hey everyone!
As I bet you all know from the title, I have dislocated my shoulder. It hurts a lot and is really sore and I'm going to go to the doctors today, but I thought it would be fun to share with you how I dislocated it. Just a note, it's not very graphic at all because it was really quick, yet painful, but if you do not want to read this, then don't!
So I was at a class at a cheerleading gym with my team. I was doing standing back handsprings and on one of them that I did on the ground (flat, spring floor), I got to the half way point, where I am essentially in a handstand position. Then I feel like it all went super slow motion. I heard a loud crack, then I felt a pop. I couldn't possibly land that handspring after that so I kind of crumpled to the floor on my knees when I felt another pop and I think that's when my shoulder popped into place. It hurt a lot so I was grabbing my shoulder (that didn't help the pain at all) and I told my coach. He said that it probably just popped out then in and that it looked fine, so I went on and continued to tumble because at that point I didn't know that i dislocated my shoulder. So I get home and it starts hurting a lot when I move my shoulder in a full swing, so I iced it and took some pain meds and googled dislocated shoulders. Apparently, that is what I did so I went to sleep and here I am now typing out my story!

So I would really appreciate for those of you who've gone though the same thing to let me know how you healed yours quickly and give me some advice in the comments!

Hey everyone!
This is going to be a quick update because I wanted to do a post on this blog, but I didn't want to plan one out so this is pretty much just going to be on my stresses in my life right now. So I am a cheerleader for my high school, and I know that nationally the cheerleading competition dates can differ, but the ones in Hawaii are around October and November so my team has been learning our routine and a lot of people suffer from injuries (my sprained finger!) and it hasn't been going as smooth as it should or could. Also, this week has just been insanely stressful because today I had a AP US History test and tomorrow I have a Spanish test and then on Friday I have a AP Biology and a Math test! It's been so hard to blog and do homework and all that and I have been loving my emergency stash of blog posts on my other blog that I use when I can't write daily!
So that was just a quick update on my life! Hope you enjoyed it!

An Explanation

Hey everyone! 
I know that I haven't posted on this blog in what feels like forever to me! I don't really post on this regularly in the first place, which is such a bad habit that I am trying to break but I have been dealing with some personal things that I would like to share with you hear. 
School has been extremely stressful for me because some colleges are coming to visit my high school so I have to attend several seminars and informational meetings for them during my breaks when I would usually do homework, so my homework load is getting pretty intense. 
Cheerleading is also very crazy because today alone I was up at 7 in the morning getting ready for a JV game and I was out cheerleading at a JV and Varsity football game until around 4 in the afternoon. We are also working on competition things and I have a few extra classes that I'm taking and that is also getting very intense and crazy!
Getting to the more personal things, I am dealing with the death of a family member who I was not super close with, but pretty close. I went to his funeral yesterday and I am trying to come to terms with his death. 
So once again I know that being busy is not a good enough excuse for you guys and that you totally deserve better than this crappy posting schedule, but I thought I'd share with you some of the reasons why I haven't been posting! I promise to try and post more often and I really appreciate those of you who continue to visit this blog and read a little bit about my life.

Start of School Recap

Hey everyone!
I wanted to do a post letting you know how my first couple weeks of school have been! So let's get started!
There are a couple new kids in my grade, one is this super crazy dude who I rant about in this post, and another is supposedly a model, but I haven't met her yet. That new guy is just crazy annoying, but I wont repeat my feelings about him in this post! 
My classes are incredibly hard! I am taking 2 advanced placement courses and one honors course. I am taking the maximum amount of credits possible this semester, which is either smart or really stupid! I haven't been struggling too hard in class, but the homework load is a little intense. Especially because there is a lot of reading involved. 
I have had cheerleading too, which is great, but I can't stunt or tumble or even cheer well because of my sprained finger! 
Blogging on the other hand is amazing, but I have been doing lots of posts in one sitting and then scheduling them because with my homework schedule, it can be a little too crazy otherwise! 
So overall, my start of school has been crazy and hectic, but I hope that I'll adjust to it soon! Let me know how your life has been in the comments because I'd love to hear about whats going on with you all!

Guys, get it together!

Hey everyone!
So this is totally a rambly post on some things that have been going on it's also a little bit of a tips for guys type post, but totally don't taking what I'm saying seriously because I don't even take myself seriously on these types of topics!
Okay, so my grade at school is pretty set. Like we don't get many new kids each year, like last year we got 3 and this year we got two. This year one of them is a girl and one is a guy. Keep in mind that I have no clue who this guy is or what his name is. I know what he looks like because I've seen him around, but I've never talked to him. So I was just minding my own business, trying to read a chapter of the great gatsby in the 15 minutes before class, when he comes up to me and starts hitting on me! Like seriously. You see a girl trying to do homework (on a table of all guys none the less) and you have the nerve to ask her to "discuss the book with you in private" and stuff like that. I have no clue if I'm totally taking this out of context or something, but it was a little awkward. The worst part was he didn't even know my name! Like seriously. So then I was texting my BGF (best guy friend) and he was like "yeah that new kid hits on all the girls" and I was like "this guy needs to learn some things!" so thats where I come in! I'm not going to help that guy in particular, I'm probably not going to talk to that guy ever again, but I'll help you guys! There's just one rule before hitting on a girl... KNOW HER! If you are friends or aquaintances, that's great, but if you're not know her freaking name! It's creepy if some random dude throws generic lines at you. Do your research and maybe you'll get some! (just kidding) but really. Do your homework.

Foodie Favorite

Hey everyone!
I have a foodie favorite for you guys today! Its no secret that I am totally in love with caramel macchiatos from Starbucks, but at $3 something each, it can get a little pricey! I have found a grocery store alternative that is so much more affordable and amazing! It's from international delights and it is their caramel macchiato. 
It is incredibly smooth tasting and it has a very sweet taste opposed to a bitter taste that you can get with espresso. It also has a great caramel taste that is sometimes missing in the starbucks one. The best thing, though, is the price! If you get it on sale (target has it on sale a lot), you can snag it for around $3! That's amazing! Also, if you are concerned about calories, a 8 ounce cup of it has 150 calories, which I think is up to par with the starbucks one unless you get it skinny! I really love this and I also want to try the other flavors too!
