My Favorite Netflix Shows!

Hey guys!
So I am doing a different sort of post today! It's on my favorite netflix shows! I've been loving netflix recently and there are a few shows on netflix that you can only watch on netflix and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you! These are in no particular order!

1) The Twilight Zone
Such a classic! It is soooo good and I really love it! Netflix only has the first 2 or 3 seasons I think, so that's kind of a bummer, but if you want to watch the other seasons Hulu has them all (but with hulu, you get commercials)

2) Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Sort of like the Twilight zone, but instead of like weird supernatural stuff happening, it's mysteries! It's another anthology series and it is really, really good too!

3) Dance Academy
It is an Australian television show about a group of ballet dancers. I am a dancer and I really love that show, but even if you're not, you will love it! I think netflix just got the third and final season, so I'm going to watch that soon!

4) 6teen
A canadian animated show about 6 16 year olds. I think it used to play on cartoon network maybe 10 years ago or so, but it is really good! It's very addictive, but it's not like Family Guy or other more inappropriate types of animated shows.

I know there are lots of other shows on netflix that are amazing, but a lot of them play on cable or something else! The shows that I listed are shows that are predominately netflix only! If you check out any of these shows, let me know in the comments and also tell me what your favorite netflix shows are!

Diet Inspiration

Hey guys!
I have another diet inspiration post for you guys! I've been on a bit of a health kick lately and I've been going to pintrest for inspiration and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you!

So this looks so amazing! It seems like a good alternative for normal chips, and I have tons of apples in my fridge right now that I can use! I might do this tomorrow actually and I'll do a blog post if I end up doing it!

I've also been using my blender a lot to make smoothies! My favorite right now is a chia seed banana and strawberry combo, but I want to branch out and add more stuff into them!

One of my friends actually made one of these the other day and instagramed it! It looked reallly yummy and I really want to try it! Plus avocados are so delicious and I have been obsessed with them!

I've also been juicing a lot more! I posted a orange carrot juice recipe the other day and I want to do more! I don't actually have a "juicer" so it makes it a little difficult, but I am going to try buy a slow juicer soon!

So that's my diet inspiration! I love these types of posts and I'll try to do more of these! Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin for more diet and fitness goodness!

My Thoughts on Rich Kids of Beverly Hills

Hi guys!
So I think that most of you know my obsession with reality television like Keeping Up With the Kardashians and the sort. Well, recently E! has a new show called "Rich Kids of Beverly Hills". It's pretty much about twenty something year olds partying it up and spending their parent's money. Before I get into this, I think that you should watch one episode of the show at least before reading the rest of this because it might not make sense otherwise. Okay, so here we go.

At first I thought that it was a terrible television show. I know a lot of television critics feel the same way and its just because it seems stupid to watch people partying and living a lavish lifestyle that 99% of people can't afford. But after I started watching a little bit more, I realized that it was actually pretty okay. I think its because they are very real people. It doesn't seem like they are putting on any type of facade and you feel like you get to know these people.

I get that the life that these people live is a fantasy to most people and that the "problems" they dramatize are nothing like "real world" problems that most Americans face such as lack of money, no job, hunger, homelessness, and more. But at the same time, the purpose of Reality Television is to get us away from the harsh reality of life and what better way to do that then by becoming engrossed in the lives of the rich and famous. And although these people aren't facing serious problems they face another very real challenge: trying to create their own identity. These kids are all in their mid 20s and only one or two have actual jobs and are self sufficient. The rest rely on their parents. I can't help but feel sorry or sad for them because they are rich by association. They didn't work for what they have, they don't even necessarily deserve what they have and they are overshadowed by what their parents have accomplished.

At the end of the day, I think that this is what makes Rich Kids of Beverly Hills so enticing. I love being able to see these kids who you think have it all, and realize that I and most of the people reading this have what they do not. We have a sense of self, identity, and we have the pleasure of knowing that everything we do each day comes from ourselves and that we work for what we have instead of having it given to us. I honestly love this show (judge me) and I think that you will too, if you give it a chance.

Let me know in the comments what you're thoughts are on this show and don't forget to follow me on bloglovin!

Hi friends!
So a couple of my friends at school started up a youtube channel the other day and I thought I'd share it with you! "Do You Blaze?"

Hello wonderful people!
So today I was hanging out with one of my friends and her boyfriend, so yes I guess technically I was third wheeling on them but whatever. I don't really know her boyfriend all that well, I mean I've hung out with them a couple times in the past, but I wouldn't say we're friends or close or anything like that. So today I was in the car with them and he asks me "do you blaze?" I have no clue if its just me or if others feel this way, but I was like what the fuck? Like who asks someone that? I get if you're friends and your joking or if you're getting serious with a boy or something, but if you're acquaintances isn't that a little weird? By the way, if you're not from America, he was asking if I smoke marijuana, which I don't by the way and never will. It's just like what is society coming to if this is what people ask! Instead of a "hows it going" or "nice to meet you" it's "do you blaze?"! Like what is wrong with the world! Plus, in Hawaii it is still illegal to smoke marijuana and I am underage so I wouldn't be allowed to even if it was legal just in case you were wondering.
That was such a random rant post thing, but let me know below if this has ever happened to you! It was totally a first for me and I was really taken off guard because its such a weird question to get from someone who's pretty much a stranger. Also, follow me on bloglovin for more musings!

My Favorite FITSPO!

Hi guys!
So I know this post isn't going to be for everyone, but it was really requested after my "is fitspo good or bad" post. I promise I'll lay back on the "fitspo" type posts after this one, but since it was really requested I thought I'd share a few of my favorite fitspo sites for you guys!

@DenaAmy - love her! She was an actress on Dance Academy and I loved that show! Her instagram is so inspiring and she has a lot of really cool dance videos on there!
@LoniJane - She was the pregnant lady eating 20 bananas a day! Although I'm not fruitarian and don't recommend it, her instagram has lots of healthy foods that look yummy!

Aleven11 - Loni Jane's blog! It is amazing and she has lots of great advice for eating clean!

Back on Pointe - She has great workout calendars and routines! It is dancer based, so I love it (because I was a dancer for 8 years!)

Fullyraw Kristina - great "raw food" recipes! I'm not a raw foodist either, but her juice and smoothie recipes are to die for!

Freelee the Banana Eater - Kind of a more radical approach to vegan eating, but her videos are interesting (even if I don't agree with some of them!)

Blogilates - Great exercise videos that are super easy to do an effective!

I also love pintrest! If you go to the Health and Fitness category, a lot of great things pop up! I know the youtube ones aren't "fitspo" technically, but these ladies make great videos and if you're really looking to get inspired, watching one of those videos can do the trick! Let me know what your favorite sites are in the comments so I can check them out! Also, follow this blog for more health fitness and other posts!

What are my thoughts on "Fitspo?"

Hey everyone!
So I know that there are conflicting thoughts on whether "fitspo" or fitness inspiration are good or bad for body image and I thought that I'd share my thoughts with you today! I want to start by saying I do not have a medical degree or anything like that, but I am very health conscious and I have been in gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading which are very body conscious sports.

First off, let's start with what is fitspo? It mostly refers to blogs or pictures (mainly pintrest and tumblr) that have inspirational quotes and pictures to motivate people to exercise and eat well. The main controversy about fitspo is that they promote unhealthy body image and make people develop eating disorders or body image problems. Fitspo is different from pro anorexia sites because they are more focused on gaining muscle and definition rather than just being skinny.

What are my thoughts on fitspo? I am actually 100% pro fitspo. I tend to go through phases where I'm really inspired and other phases when I am lazy and unmotivated. I find that fitspo helps to keep me motivated by showing me things that I can do. I love that it promotes healthy living because a lot of the ones I look at show dancers doing scorpions or flexibility things or people doing advanced yoga poses. These are things that I am striving to do, and by seeing pictures of other people doing them, I get super pumped and motivated. With that being said, I get that it can promote unhealthy body image if you look at the wrong types of body types (like if you are more muscular, but you look at images of lean figures) or if you look at unhealthily skinny models. I also think that people can trigger anorexia or bulimia, but with that being said, I think that these people are predisposed to eating disorders and it would happen whether or not they look at fitspo sites.

Overall, I think that it depends on the person who looks at the sites. If they are motivated by looking at them, then that's great! That's what happens when I look at those sites! But if you are someone who gets down or sad when looking at fitspo because it seems unattainable, don't look at them! You are obviously trying to make a change if you are looking at fitness blogs and fitspo sites, so focus on actually DOING something rather than WATCHING something!

I know this was a slightly controversial topic and that my opinions are most likely not the same as yours, so leave your thoughts on it in the comments, but please be respectful!

MRI's and More

Hi guys!
So I've been MIA on this blog and on social media this past week and it is because I was insanely busy! This is going to be sort of a "catch up" with me type post where I'll share what I've been doing with you all!

So this week there was a large fundraiser at my school. The Junior class is in charge of running it and staffing it so I've been so insanely busy helping to prep the food and run the booths and all of that. It is a huge production and is one of the bigger events in Hawaii. This has taken up a lot of my free time this week and today is the second day of the event and although I'm less busy than I was yesterday, a lot of my day will be spent at school helping. I haven't really been blogging much because I haven't had much free time!

And since I've been blogging the extent of my shoulder injury, I thought that I'd give you a little update on that as well. I got a MRI on Wednesday and let me tell you that it was not fun. I had to get the contrast injected and the radiologist kept moving the needle so it was hitting my bone and it was PAINFUL! But the MRI came out well I guess and it was all worth it in the end. It ends up that I have torn some cartilage and I have a torn labrum. It's not super serious (because I've had it for 2 months) but it is something that will need surgery. I don't relaly know when or who will do the surgery yet, but I am trying to explore the option of waiting until summer because I have a couple AP exams in a few months and if I can't write, I'm screwed. I will keep you updated on my shoulder injury because I think that it helps me, at least, to cope with it through blogging and also, this blog is aobut my life, and this is a huge portion of my life right now!

So I hope that this was somewhat interesting, I'm not quite sure if it was, but I'll try to keep up with this blog better and I'll keep y'all updated!

Orange Carrot Juice Recipe!

Hi lovelies!
So if you follow me on twitter, you probably know that I have been on a little bit of a health kick lately and I've been juicing a lot more than usual! I made a orange carrot juice last night and I wanted to share the recipe with you in this post!

So first off, I don't have a juicer. Yes, you heard that right! So what I like to do is use a normal juice from a can or bottle as the "liquid" and blend my vegetables and fruits with that and strain it. It is a little bit more work heavy than if you had a juicer, but the end product is just as good!

5 handfuls of baby carrots
5 large stalks of celery
1 large orange
bottled orange juice to blend
chunk of ginger (optional)

So blend the first four ingredients together until you get a smooth consistency. Run the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or a cup. This juice recipe makes a little over 2 cups for me, so you should pick a container accordingly. After the juice runs through the strainer, use a spoon to compress the pulp and squeeze out the remaining juice. If you do it correctly, whatever is left in the strainer should be dry to the touch and densely packed. This juice is a little light so if you'd like to add more flavor, you can add a chunk of ginger to it and let it steep for a couple hours!

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you'd like more juice recipes and other food posts, let me know in the comments! Also, follow me on twitter and follow this blog for more diet and fitness posts!
